Bob visits the Hospice on a weekly basis as a day therapy patient after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease which causes a gradual loss in movement, and says that his quality of life has improved since.

He has lost the strength in his legs and is unable to use his arms; a former gardener, now aged 63, Bob says that the disease has left him unable to do a great many of the things that he used to enjoy. He says ‘ there is nothing I can really do now – my muscles are literally shrivelling up.’ Going to the Hospice every week has given me a bit of focus back and it really helps to take my mind off things. They do a really important job and I feel a lot better. Going to the Hospice has really improved my quality of life. Bob’s wife, Janet said that ‘the Hospice has given me counselling and helped me through a very difficult time. They have been absolutely wonderful.’
