It can often be an isolating and lonely experience for patients and their families coping with a terminal illness. Coming to our weekly drop-in can help. It’s a place to find answers, feel supported, talk about your feelings and meet other patients and families who may be going through a similar experience.

It is open from 10:00am – 12:30pm every Monday (except Bank Holidays) and welcomes Hospice patients, their family, friends and carers. There is no need to book but we do ask that patients are able to manage themselves as we are unable to provide nursing support at the drop-in.

The Hospice drop-in team have a variety of skills and expertise, so while they are with you to provide a listening ear and be alongside you during any challenges that you may face, they can also help you with welfare advice, offer a range of complementary therapies, run monthly relaxation sessions or arrange for access to the Hospice Community Team.

Our drop-in can be a place for serious conversations, but often laughter and relaxation. For some, it’s enough to call in occasionally when guidance is needed, and for others it is where lasting friendships are made.

“I never miss a Monday drop-in and have made some wonderful friends. We have guest speakers on all sorts of topics who are always entertaining, quizzes, games and much more. But most importantly we can chat to each about anything. We all support one another and we laugh a lot - the best therapy I could ask for. I now have many wonderful new friends, some of whom I meet outside the Hospice for a coffee and a chat.

“Heart of Kent Hospice has given me a great gift; the love and support of many people including staff, volunteers, and patients, and for that I am truly grateful.”
