Together with Holding On Letting Go, we are running a family support group, helping parents or carers with a terminal illness to make the most of every moment with their children.
The group supports parents with children and young people aged 5 – 18 years, providing opportunities to make memories and have fun, whilst benefitting from emotional and practical support.
The activities will help all family members to feel prepared and cope with saying goodbye to loved ones. Most importantly, it’s about making the most of the time families have together, and feeling that they are not alone.
Each session will include:
After-school snacks will be served
Please place an order for after-school snacks - let us know the number of children that will be coming along, and any dietary requirements when booking.
Reflection and memory building informs our approach to pre bereavement work with children. Such activities focus on continuing bonds, which is an important grief concept.
Shaydon aged 7 years enjoyed finding special photos of his mum. Shaydon understood through the sessions his mother had cancer and the doctors and nurses had tried everything to make her better but sadly it was not possible.
Shaydon would use the book at home with the family and enjoyed asking others to write things about mum. Together the family created special drawings and artwork. This became a treasured item which he loved showing to everyone whilst sharing stories and photos about his Mum
