Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone
When John Dashwood and his snobbish wife inherit his father’s estate, his stepmother and his step sisters and forced to leave their home and live very simply in the Devonshire countryside. Elinor, the elder sister, bears it with her usual stoicism, even though she is in love with Edward Ferrars, John’s brother in law. Marianne on the other hand, suffers cruelly, both in love and health. The circumstances and people they encounter test the sisters’ sense and sensibilities to the limit.
