This is theory and group work based day touches on all the elements of palliative care.

It is aimed at healthcare assistants who would like to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in caring for people with a terminal illness or at the end of their life.

The day consists of pain and comfort care, including mouth care as oral problems are common in terminally ill patients. The workshop will also outline the importance of patient choices and quality of life, and discuss holistic and spiritual care together with supporting patients and their loved ones’ mental and emotional needs.

It will teach observation and communication skills which are vital for patients who find it difficult to comprehend or communicate fully.
