When the modern hospice movement was founded over 50 years ago, the vision was to combine four important components, all of which were essential for the delivery of excellence in palliative care. These four strands were expert pain and symptom control, compassionate care, teaching, and research.
Research is vital to help us understand the best ways to care for our patients now and into the future. At Heart of Kent Hospice we are a research active Hospice, committed to contributing to the research base in palliative care. As part of this commitment we are part of the Kent Palliative Care Research Forum and we have recruited patients for research studies.
