Heart of Kent Hospice was delighted when the UK’s leading berry and stone fruit production group, Berry Gardens announced them as their Charity of the Year. With over 30% market share and a year round business supplying all of Britain’s leading retailers the partnership has many synergies.
The Berry Gardens team have had a busy start to their fundraising. Ten members of staff took part in a 5k inflatable run at Mote Park; they have been selling Easter chicks knitted by a Hospice volunteer Norma which come with a chocolate egg inside them; five energetic staff members took part in the Maidstone Road Run and they all deserved their bacon rolls which they organised for the Hospice’s Hearty breakfast campaign. To date they have raised an amazing £1,873.
Janine Hatfield, Berry Gardens Communications Manager explains, “We are thrilled that our staff voted for Heart of Kent Hospice, our local Hospice. We are an enthusiastic bunch of driven people who love a challenge. The Hospice offers a variety of events for our staff to participate in, or volunteer at to help raise the vital funds it needs to provide its services. It’s important for us to feel that we are not just looking after the land that we produce our fruit from but that we give back to the local communities we serve as well.”
