Seventy-nine long-serving employees and volunteers from Heart of Kent Hospice were recognised and celebrated at the Lady Monckton Awards on Tuesday 12 June at the glamourous Tudor Park Mariott Hotel & Country Club.
The Lady Monckton Awards pay tribute to the outstanding service and commitment of staff and volunteers, whose roles vary from nursing, emotional health and welfare advisers and dementia care to volunteer fundraisers, retail and café colleagues and complementary therapists.
Incredibly the 79 employees and volunteers were receiving recognition for a total of 620 years of care and service to terminally-ill people and their loved ones from across Maidstone, Aylesford, Staplehurst, Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding villages.
At the event, department heads introduced each staff member or volunteer praising their work and dedication before Awards were presented by Marianna, Viscountess Monckton of Brenchley, Patron of Heart of Kent Hospice, each receiving special certificates and badges in recognition of their length of service.
Honouring the work of the Hospice staff and volunteers, Chief Executive, Sarah Pugh said: “Our colleagues are everyday heroes who, each in their own way, enable us to care and support over 1,400 local people with terminal illnesses and their families. We’re delighted that, through these Awards, we are able to recognise the immense dedication and commitment they have given over many years, and for which we are enormously grateful.”
In addition to the ceremony, the employees and volunteers were treated to afternoon tea and a celebration cake which was kindly donated by The Flourcloud. The event was generously hosted by Tudor Park Mariott Hotel & Country Club.Back to News
