Heart of Kent Hospice were delighted to see walkers back enjoying the Kentish countryside and supporting the Hospice on this year’s popular annual ‘Bluebell Walk’ which took place on Sunday 1 May 2022.
To date, the event has raised an incredible £28,762, with the total expected to rise further when final sponsorship money is collected.
1,092 walkers of all ages participated in this year’s event which, for the first time, also included a shorter 2.5 mile mini Bluebell Walk.
Events Manager at Heart of Kent Hospice Erica Snow said: “It was incredible to see such a fantastic turnout for our flagship event which had not taken place since 2019 due to the pandemic. We were able to hold a virtual event in 2021 but seeing people out in person on a Sunday morning enjoying the bluebells and remembering loved ones in the Field of Memories was very special. We want to congratulate each and every walker who took part in the event as all the donations and additional sponsorship and donations has helped us to raise such an incredible amount of money for our wonderful Hospice.
“Over 50 volunteers generously gave their time to park cars, register walkers, marshal the routes, hand out certificates and take photographs. Without our amazing team of Hospice colleagues, volunteers, sponsors and partnership suppliers it would not be possible for our longest running event to take place, everyone was truly amazing!”
The Hospice organises fundraising events throughout the year including two events this summer at Allington Castle by the Changeling Theatre. On Sunday 7 August 2022 see The Importance of Being Earnest at 2.30pm and at 7:30 pm there is a performance of Othello.
