Heart of Kent Hospice has today announced that after five years, Jim Barker-McCardle will stand down as Chair of Trustees and hand over to fellow trustee, Ann Millington.
Jim said: “Ann will be a terrific chair and will take up her new role on Friday 6 May when I formally stand down as both Chair and Trustee.
“It has been an enormous privilege to hold both roles as Chair and Trustee at what I firmly believe to be the finest Hospice in the country. I have had the very good fortune to work with two superb Chief Executives - Sarah Pugh and Rachel Street – and their outstanding Executive Team, together with all the wonderful colleagues and volunteers who together provide such truly outstanding care and support at the Hospice. I will remain an active member and supporter of this inspirational Hospice.”
Incoming Chair of Trustees, Ann Millington, was the first female Chief Fire Officer, taking charge of the Kent Fire and Rescue Service in 2011.
Ann said “I am very much looking forward to taking over from Jim to support Rachel and her excellent team in the amazing work they carry out at the Heart of Kent Hospice every day.
“I would also like to say thank you to the outgoing chair Jim for his outstanding contribution.”
Chief Executive Officer of Heart of Kent Hospice Rachel Street said: “Heart of Kent Hospice is pleased to welcome Ann to the post of Chair of Trustees, and we are all looking forward to working with Ann, who brings a wide breadth of experience from working at Kent Fire and Rescue Service, but also with her background in organisational development, training, HR and consultancy.”
