Would you like to own one of the fabulous Elmer sculptures which have been part of the hugely successful ‘Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade’ in Maidstone organised by Heart of Kent Hospice, Andersen Press, Wild in Art and Presenting Partner Westerhill Homes?

The wonderful eye-catching art trail across Maidstone town came to an end on Sunday 22 August, but you could be the proud owner of a colourful, one-of-its-kind Elmer. After being on the Parade for the nine-week art trail, the 51 unique, large Elmer sculptures will go under the hammer to find their forever homes at a spectacular auction at the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel.

It’s going to be an evening of high drama and excitement, and one of the amazing Elmer Sculptures going under the hammer is ‘Elly-do, Ely-don’t, Elly-dance’ by well-known Kent artist Ralph Steadman. Every Elmer sculpture has been designed by a talented local or national artist. They have all created incredible eye-catching designs which residents and visitors to Maidstone have enjoyed while exploring the town, river and parks of Maidstone.

Director of Income Generation Ann-Marie Kelly said: “Fundraising has been a real challenge for Heart of Kent Hospice during the pandemic, as many of our annual fundraising events were unable to take place – and sadly many of our 30th anniversary plans for this year have been unable to happen. Despite these challenges it still costs the Hospice £5 million each year to provide end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness. We hope to raise £250,000 from this very special auction to help Heart of Kent Hospice continue to provide specialist advice, support and outstanding care.”

Anyone interested in owning an Elmer and supporting our Hospice can register their interest by filling in an online form to attend the auction and bid for an Elmer either in person, or via telephone or proxy.

The Auction takes place between 6:00pm - 10.30pm on Thursday 9 September 2021 and will be conducted by Official Auction Partner Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.
