Every year, our Sunflower Appeal allows the community to come together to reflect and remember our loved ones. In this, our 30th anniversary year, we are inviting you to celebrate your most treasured memories by once again joining our virtual service on Saturday 12 June at 11.00am.
The service, which will be streamed via our Hospice Facebook page and YouTube channel, provides the opportunity to share some quiet time of reflection and remembrance with poems and readings led by Sylvia Rothschild our Spiritual Lead.
Sunflowers are thought to represent love, admiration, loyalty, positivity and strength – all qualities undeniably encompassed in hospice care. In place of the usual sunflower dedication within our beautiful Hospice garden, we have adapted the appeal to allow everyone to dedicate a virtual sunflower in memory of a loved one.
Since we opened our doors in 1991, we have been privileged to support over 50,000 people – patients, carers and their families. By dedicating a sunflower and donating to the Hospice, you are ensuring we can continue to provide our specialist advice, support and outstanding care, now and for the next 30 years.
Claire Ashby, Supporter Care Manager, said: “Remembrance and reflection have always played an important part of life here at Heart of Kent Hospice. This year, our Sunflower Appeal has even more significance as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. Through your sunflower dedication and donation, we can continue making a difference at one of the most difficult times in people’s lives."
