The route

The Bluebell Walk follows a picturesque leisurely six-mile ramble taking you amongst the stunning bluebells and through enchanting woodland. This year we are also offering an alternative route in addition to the existing route. This walk follows a steeper incline on the North Downs Way bypassing the stiles at Lower Dean Farm which caused some traffic in 2019. When you are on the walk you will be able to select which route you wish to take with marshals directing you along the way. This route continues to take you amongst the beautiful bluebells and woodland. Both routes offer cold drinks at the two-mile mark, four-mile mark and the Field of Memories where you can remember a loved one. If you pack a picnic you are invited to stop for a hot or cold drink at the picnic spot.

New for 2022 our ‘mini Bluebell Walk’ offers a beautiful new route of two and a half miles for little legs or those who feel less able to complete the full six mile walk. This route also departs from Harrietsham Village Hall and takes in part of the beautiful Bluebell Walk across the North Downs. This alternative route does not pass through the Field of Memories or picnic stop but cold drinks will be provided on the route. Whilst this route may be subject to some rough terrain it does not take in any stiles

All ages are welcome to take part in the Bluebell Walk but buggies and wheelchairs are not recommended due to uneven terrain and stiles to cross. Dogs on leads are welcome but please note that larger dogs may find it difficult to cross some of the stiles on the longer route and may therefore need to be carried over.

Over the past few months we have put together event safety plans for our event to move forward in a new format to ensure social distancing measures can be adhered to and ensuring our participants feel comfortable throughout the day. To help with this we have introduced rolling, pre-assigned wave starts from 8:00am until 11:00am:

  • Wave 1, 8:00am
  • Wave 2, 8:30am
  • Wave 3, 9:00am
  • Wave 4, 9:30am
  • Wave 5, 10:00am
  • Wave 6, 10:30am
  • Wave 7, 11:00am

Fundraising

We are asking walkers to raise sponsorship by participating in the Bluebell Walk. All money raised from the event contributes to the £4 million Heart of Kent Hospice raises from the generosity of the local community every year. The Hospice provides specialist care and support for terminally ill people and their loved ones, so they can have the best quality of life, for as long as they live.
