Following the outpouring of heartfelt messages since the death of Captain Sir Tom Moore, his family has pledged to celebrate his life with an event that everyone can be involved in - the Captain Tom 100. The Captain Tom 100 offers you the opportunity to raise crucial funds for Heart of Kent Hospice, while at the same time celebrating Captain Tom’s achievements over the past year.

How it works

It’s so simple.  All you need to do is dream up a Captain Tom 100 challenge based around the number 100  and do it at any time  and anywhere over Captain Tom’s 101st birthday weekend – starting on Friday 30 April through to Monday 3 May.  The challenge could be walking 100 steps or running 100 metres, scoring 100 goals, climbing 100 stairs, making something out of 100 Lego bricks, writing a 100-word poem, doing 100 star jumps – anything at all, indoors or out.

Why not spare 100 minutes of your time to help pick up litter

We’re asking you to maintain a healthy environment on your doorstep by sparing 100 minutes of your time to help pick up litter. We all have a responsibility to keep our streets, parks and woodlands clean, so we’re leading by example and inspiring others with a sponsored litter pick. As well as raising money for Heart of Kent Hospice, by joining us you will be doing a fantastic job for your community by clearing up your local environment. Plus, it is an opportunity for some physical exercise, fresh air and achieving something valuable with 100 minutes of your time.

To ensure you adhere to the Government guidelines, minimise travel by staying local to litter pick, maintain social distancing and do not exceed the rule of six.

Remember to bring a bag to collect the rubbish in and wear gloves or use a litter picker if you have one. It is important to use hand sanitizer, avoid any sharp or hazardous materials and always wash your hands after picking up any litter.

Once you have chosen your challenge, whether it’s your own or as part of our litter pick, set up a fundraising page or donate using the link below and share your 100 challenge on social media tagging Heart of Kent Hospice and using #CaptainTom100
