Between Thursday 18 – Sunday 21 March 2021 we’re asking you to invite family, friends and colleagues to a virtual ‘Caring Teagether’ tea party and encourage your guests to text TEAGETHER 3 to 70450 and donate the cost of a cuppa - £3. (Texts cost £3 plus one standard rate message.)
It's simple - grab your favourite cup, bake or buy a delicious treat then get comfy at home to enjoy a long natter with friends and family, and help us continue to support local people who need it most.
Simply decide on the platform you’ll be using, such as Skype, FaceTime messenger or Zoom. Plus, there are others you may already be using. If you need any help with getting started please follow the link below:
Skype calls are free anywhere in the world. You can use Skype on a computer, mobile phone or tablet. More on Skype
Facebook allows you to use its Messenger platform to make group video calls with up to 50 people - sort of like a virtual hangout. Starting a video call on Facebook is as easy as making a phone call. More on Facebook
Zoom has become a popular video conferencing app. It enables you to virtually interact, it’s hugely successful for social events - you simply share a link for your guests to join. More on Zoom
Google Hangouts are free to use and easy to set up if you have a Google account (Gmail). You can chat, call or video call up to 150 contacts. More on Google Hangouts
We recommend you invite 10 people to your tea party. Plus, a few days before or on the day, check if your guests know how to ‘join’ your tea party.
Entertainment, here are some ideas how you can bring on the fun to entertain your guests…
Encourage your guests to enter our Virtual Caring Teagether bake off. Prior to your tea party see what irresistible bakes you and your guests can create in the kitchen and ask all bakers to show off their finished homemade treats at your tea party. While we cannot judge a winner by taste, we will base it on what looks the most ‘irresistible’ bake.
Before you all enjoy your homemade treats, ask your guests to take a photo and enter our Virtual Caring Teagether Bake Off. There is a category for adults with a prize of an afternoon tea for two and a category for children with a prize of 6 cupcakes. Find out more

Your virtual tea party is the perfect time to host a virtual quiz for your friends and family. The easiest way of running a virtual quiz is for each household joining the call to form a team. However, if you have people who are isolating alone and want them to form a team, then they can link up with a friend elsewhere and the team can confer via WhatsApp. To help with your planning download our free Caring Teagether quiz.
Text TEAGETHER 3 to 70450 and donate the cost of a cuppa and encourage your friends and families to get involved in our quiz, cooking masterclasses, bake off or tea party! (Texts cost £3 plus one standard rate message.)
