Corporate volunteering could benefit your business by:

  • Boosting employee morale, motivation and wellbeing

Employees want to work for a company that values them and gives back to the community. They feel more motivated, staff morale is higher and they feel more valued. Their mental and physical wellbeing is increased and they take fewer sick days.

  • Making your employees feeling more empowered

By letting employees get over their volunteering efforts, letting them choose what they do and how they do it, makes them feel empowered. Teams work together, feel committed to the cause, each other and their place of work.

  • Promoting employee retention

Workers at organisations where volunteering is encouraged and supported, are more likely to stay with their employer for a long time. Giving back to the local community can lead to a great sense of loyalty and connection to the workplace.

  • Increased brand awareness

Employees of businesses with volunteer days are proud to share others where they work, whether it is in person or by posting on social media about their volunteering activities. Here at the Hospice, we are also happy to tell the world how your employees are helping us and what difference they are making to our patients and their families. This would increase your company’s profile and attract prospective employees who share your vision and ethos.

  • Offering an opportunity for team building

As the saying goes: “The team that plays together, stays together”. When a team participates in a meaningful activity, even just for a day, a sense of teamwork is nurtured.

Working together for a common goal, which benefits a worthy local cause, enables the colleagues to bond and support each other.

This increased sense of teamwork can translate into the workplace. Colleagues feel more committed to each other and to their employer.

  • Contributing to professional and personal development

Learning a new skill adds to our sense of worth. Volunteering can help learning and developing new skills. Whether it is making a bug hotel, painting a fence or working in a shop, spending a day away from their normal workplace can enable your colleagues to lend their hand to tasks they have not tried before.

Increasing their skill-set will make your staff feel valuable and affect their overall wellbeing in a positive way.

We have a number of opportunities available, to suit a wide range of skills and interests. For more information, please contact Sasha Kamenetski, Corporate Partnerships Manager at david.dadswell@hokh.co.uk or tel: 01622 795691.

 Corpoate Shop Challenge

This is an opportunity for teams of up to four colleagues to join a shop manager and voluteers in one of our 14 Hospice shops. Whilst you step into the unknown and learn new skills, you will work together to achieve your goals and sales targets for the day.

Corporate Volunteering day

Your team may have a set of skills that could help the Hospice achieve a specific goal. In the past year our corporate volunteers have painted fences, relocated food composters, moved piles of sand, cleared and planted gardens areas.

"It's really satisfying. Understanding how much work goes into preparing your donations for sale is fascinating. But, stepping away from our desks and doing something that is helping the local community, in such a worthwhile way, is really rewarding!"
