At Heart of Kent Hospice we rely greatly on the support of grant makers such as trusts and foundations to contribute to the over £4 million we need each year to provide vital end of life care to our patients and their families.

It is only through the generosity of trust funders that we have been able to bring important improvements in end of life care to the people in our community.

Each grant, no matter the size, means a great deal to us. Here are just a few of the ways support from grant makers has enabled us to extend the care for local people.

We received:

  • £52,000 to cover the various costs of the Hospice paramedic who responds quickly when a patient becomes suddenly unwell at home, making whatever arrangements are needed to help them feel better quickly.
  • £15,000 (plus the promise of the same amount for the next two years) towards the cost of expanding the dementia service and enabling us to help more people who are living with the impact of this illness.
  • £6,398 to increase the number of Outpatient appointments at the Hospice which support patients to live as well as possible with their illness.
  • £2,000 to help pay for our wonderful housekeeping team who keep the Hospice bright and clean and free of infection.
  • £995 to buy a new McKinley Syringe Driver for the steady administration of medication which makes patients more comfortable.

If you are a grant making trust or foundation and would like to support our work, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Heather Graham, Trusts & Foundations Manager, on 01622 790195 or email
