Did you know you can make your charity shop donations stretch even further with Gift Aid?
Every time you Gift Aid your donations, you can make them worth 25% more when they sell – whether they're clothes, books, chairs, or a sofa. By signing up for Gift Aid you will be raising more money to help people living in our community with a terminal illnesses.
Gift Aid is a scheme run by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) that means charities like us can reclaim the tax on your donations at no extra cost to you. This means all your donations will be worth 25% more. So, if your donations sell for £10, we will receive £12.50.
You must be a current UK taxpayer, but this is not limited to tax on earnings. You also qualify if you pay tax on a pension, savings, property sales or rental income.
Download our Gift Aid form, print it out, fill in your details and bring it to your local shop or post it back to us as detailed on the form or ask instore and sign up on the spot and you’ll be given tags for your bags.
Bring your completed form along to one of our charity shops with your first donation. Forms are also available at all our shops, so you can fill it out on the day if you prefer. We will never share your details with third parties.
Give your form to one of our retail colleagues and they will provide you with Gift Aid bag tags for your bags of donations.
This “Tag your Bag” method helps us track your items and claim gift aid when they sell!
Ask in-store for some Gift Aid bag tags or download them here.
Before you bring your items to us at a Heart of Kent Hospice shop, it really helps us if you can securely attach a completed label to every bag. Please write in your first name, surname, house number or house name and postcode.
We’ll let you know each year how much your donated items have sold for, and the overall total raised together with the Gift Aid amount we were able to claim.
