Write your Will, protect your loved-ones, and support your hospice

Make a Will Month is your chance to make or update your Will through a local partner solicitor and help fund your hospice's vital services at the same time.

All of our appointments for this year's Make a Will Month have now gone!

Register your interest for next year

Our partnering solicitors have generously gifted their time to offer basic Will-writing appointments in exchange for donation to Heart of Kent Hospice.

Each type of Will-writing appointment has a set donation price, which represent a substantial discount on the solicitors' normal commercial rates:

  • £250 to create a new single Will or update an existing single Will
  • £400 to create new mirror Wills or update an existing pair of mirror Wills
a common choice for couples where both Wills are almost identical

Please note that your donation must be made to Heart of Kent Hospice before we can confirm your appointment with one of our partner solicitors. Appointments are available to book now and will take place throughout April.

“For me, it’s a win-win to be able to do it through the hospice’s Make a Will Month. I’ll get my Will professionally written, but instead of paying commercial and high solicitor fees, I’ll be supporting the work of the hospice instead.”

I'm interested in making a Will, what's the process?

We aim to keep the process of supporting our Make a Will Month as simple and straightforward for both you and our participating solicitors. Please fill in the interest form and after we receive your kind donation, we will contact with you with extra information so you can decide if taking part in Make a Will is the best option for you. We will also pass on your details to your chosen solicitor, who will contact you to arrange a convenient appointment time.

What is a basic Will?

A Basic Will covers an estate where the client is leaving everything to a few family members, friends and/or charities; which does not require detailed inheritance tax advice; and which has no assets outside of the UK. It does not include setting up Trusts or Powers of Attorney. These would be charged separately by the Solicitor at normal commercial rates.

Additional costs

Your Solicitor will inform you of any additional costs which may be associated with complex and tax planning Wills or estates, or those that need Trusts creating.  These are not covered by this scheme and can be paid to the Solicitor separately in addition to any donation made to the Hospice. Solicitors may also charge an administration fee, please check with your chosen solicitor if this is required.

Do I have to leave a Heart of Kent Hospice a gift in my Will?

No, to take part in Make a Will Month there is no expectation to leave us a gift in your Will, or to tell us if you choose to do so. However, we would be incredibly grateful to anyone who considers leaving a legacy gift.
