Welfare advice

Our Welfare Advisors offer a unique service, supporting patients, families and carers with guidance on financial, social, legal and welfare issues while patients are under the care of the hospice, and beyond into bereavement.

After coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis, patients and their carers can often face practical worries relating to their work life, financial support and legal matters.

Our Welfare Advisers can help you to claim benefits you are entitled to and advise you on matters such as welfare benefits, grants, tax and insurance, pensions, council tax discounts, utility bills, immigration and employment rights.

If you have concerns about your affairs or who will make decisions on your behalf if you’re no longer able, we can provide you with information on Funeral Planning, Making a Will and making a Lasting Power of Attorney.

We can also help support a patient's loved ones with advice on carers rights, care costs and funeral costs.

To contact the Welfare Advice Team please call 01622 792200 or email fst@hokh.co.uk. You can also speak to the team at the Hospice Hub on Mondays and Thursdays, or at the bereavement drop-in on Wednesdays.

We’re here to help relieve the stress from financial worries. Our door is always open. There’s no stigma or judgement; every conversation you have with us is confidential and discrete.
