Exciting Progress for Heart of Kent Hospice at Greensand Place

We’re excited to share the latest progress on the new Heart of Kent Hospice at Greensand Place.

It’s been a wonderful start to the week with news that Ann-Marie Kelly has been made permanent as Heart of Kent Hospice Chief Executive. As she starts the week in her permanent role the news that the Reserve Matters application has been approved for the new hospice building at Greensand Place Linton.

The two couldn’t have been more perfectly timed. Ann-Marie says:

“What a fantastic way to start my tenure as permanent Chief Executive of this wonderful hospice. We’ve been waiting for this approval so that we can start our fundraising for the new hospice and launch our Capital Campaign with donors and supporters knowing that the time is now ticking to get the money needed to start the build.

“We’ve be so grateful for the outpouring of support following news of the new hospice plans, and we were overjoyed that Edwina and David Bicker had decided to remember the hospice in their will leaving 75% of their estate to us which was nearly £3million. What a phenomenal gift to start of the fundraising.”

Receiving the Reserved Matters approval means that the building works must start within the next three years ‘breaking ground’.

Ann-Marie added:

“Whilst it’s very exciting to think we can start to move forward for our new hospice. We also, must continue to fundraise and generate income from our shops and café in order to fund our outstanding care. It’s sobering to know we need to raise over 80% of the £7.6m it cost to run the hospice and its services.

“We continue to be focused, ambitious and dedicated to everyone who needs us in Maidstone and the surrounding areas, we aim to be there for people with terminal illness for many years to come.”
