Fun, family, and a little bit of circus

Our monthly family sessions got a fun new addition - and there's more to come.

Last month, our monthly Family Session had something a little different in store - a circus workshop.

Each month, we welcome families under our care who have children at home. Giving them the chance to come together, spend time with others who understand what they're going through, and get support to help their little ones make sense of a difficult time.

Thanks to a generous grant from BBC Children in Need, we've been able to add something extra special to these sessions - and last month, that meant giant bubbles, pogo sticks, and more than a few laughs.

Children threw themselves into learning new skills, and focused on having fun - giving families a moment to breathe, connect, and be together in a light-hearted space, even when life at home is anything but easy.

Our family support team were on hand throughout, as they always are - ready to chat, listen, and signpost to our bereavement and wellbeing services for any families who needed it.

Lyndsey Stukalov-Stone, Head of Family Support:

"As the children were able to interact with these activities, friendships were made and it was nice to see the children taking turns and sharing.

Our new water table was extremely popular bought with the Children in Need funding, and the younger children were observed engaging in imaginative and sensory based play as well as watering the flowers.

The families and 9 children attending are looking forward to the next session on Saturday 30th May to celebrate our 35 years of care! We have a very special magic show and party planned. Please continue to spread the word."

We're so grateful to BBC Children in Need for making moments like this possible. There's more to come in the months ahead.

Join our next Family Session - where we'll be having a party to celebrate our 35th Anniversary!
