Maddie's Story

Hi everyone! I’m Maddie, and I am a new volunteer with Heart of Kent Hospice. I will be getting stuck into anything involving communications and events and can’t wait to get started!

Heart of Kent Hospice is a very special charity to me, as my grandmother received end-of-life care here when I was younger. The kindness, support, and compassion that the nurses showed my family was so special and made a huge difference to us in such a difficult time. Therefore, I have always held Heart of Kent Hospice very close to my heart, which is why I reached out to become a volunteer.

Heart of Kent Hospice offer so many volunteering opportunities. Whether it be working in a charity shop or working remotely like myself, you can give as much or as little time as you like. There are many ways in which you can give your time - it really is what works for you!

As a university student currently on a placement year, I look forward to volunteering whenever I can and I hope to assist with fundraising events during the weekend and over the Summer. I am very excited to be contributing my time to the communications and events team!
