Moonlit Memories Walk: Walking to remember Paul Bruschan

Our Moonlit Memories Walk is taking place this Saturday 5 October at our new venue, Cobtree Manor Park.
The Moonlit Memories Walk is all about remembering and celebrating our loved ones whilst lighting up the night sky on a 5 mile charity walk in support of our Hospice.
We would like to share with you the story of one group of fundraisers who are preparing to take part in the walk this weekend in memory of Paul Bruschan.
Paul's family said: "Our Dad, Paul Bruschan went into Heart of Kent Hospice in July 2023. Having been diagnosed with a stage 4 glioblastoma nine years previously - an aggressive brain tumour with a poor prognosis - he'd defied medical odds to get to that point. After 3 surgeries and numerous rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he reached a point where the treatment was no longer working. Once he stopped chemo his health declined pretty quickly, and when being at home was getting too hard, he made the decision to go into the Hospice.
Although it was a hard decision, we could not have hoped for a better place for Dad to spend his final weeks. He was made so comfortable, and given the care and dignity he deserved. And for us as a family, we couldn't have asked for more. The staff were so kind and welcoming to all of us. We felt so reassured that Dad was in good hands, and thoughtful little touches like bringing out toys for the grandkids to play with during visits made us all feel at ease. Whilst we'll always be sad that Dad was taken from us far too soon, we'll forever be grateful to Heart of Kent Hospice for making those last few weeks so peaceful and comfortable. So we're really happy to be taking part in this year's Moonlit Memories walk to raise funds for this wonderful organisation."
Taking part in the walk will be Dawn, Paul's wife, Dawn, his daughters Sophie and Caroline and his grandchildren Elodie, Ruby and Harry.
If you would like to join us for the Moonlit Memories Walk, there's still time!
