Plumwood Ltd laces up for Kent Downs Ultra Challenge

This year, colleagues from Plumwood Ltd in Rochester, are lacing up their trainers and taking on the unenviable Kent Downs 50 - Ultra Challenge, in support of the incredible team at Heart of Kent Hospice.
“For us, this challenge is deeply personal. Both Sharon and Gary sadly lost their mums, Bridie and Nellie, to cancer. At the time, they didn’t have the opportunity to benefit from the kind of care, compassion and support that hospices like Heart of Kent provide every single day to patients and their families.
Seeing the comfort and dignity that hospice care can bring to people at such a difficult time is something that really resonates with us, which is why we wanted to do something to give back.” Said Amy Robinson, Quality & Marketing Manager at Plumwood Ltd.
But for one team member, the connection goes even further. Sharon Plummer, Director at Plumwood Ltd, has spent every Thursday morning for the past three years volunteering at the hospice. As a qualified massage therapist, she gives her time to provide gentle therapy and support to patients and their carers - small moments of comfort that can make a real difference.
“Taking on the Kent Ultra Challenge felt like the perfect way for the Plumwood team to raise funds and awareness for a charity that means so much to us.
We understand the miles will be challenging, but it’s nothing compared to the hardships faced by the people the hospice supports each day. If we can help raise funds to ensure that care remains available for families who need it, then every step will be worthwhile.
“Thank you to Heart of Kent Hospice for the incredible work you do for our community.”
Last year’s participants of the event raised over £10,000 for the hospice. Maisie Bass-Clark, Community & Events Fundraising Manager at Heart of Kent Hospice, said, “We are deeply thankful to the Plumwood Ltd team for their dedication to the hospice. With our outgoings increasing every year, we rely on the generosity and determination of our community to keep our vital services running. Events like this don’t just raise funds, they help secure compassionate care for the future. We urge others to join us, take on a challenge, and be part of something truly life‑changing.”
The Kent Downs Ultra Challenge takes place on 10 October 2026. Bookings are now open!
