Hospice colleagues take on Bluebell Walk challenge

Our annual Bluebell Walk will take place on Sunday 4 May in Harrietsham and this year a team of dedicated colleagues from the Hospice Community Services Team will be taking on the six-mile route.

We spoke to our Clinical Nurse Specialist Laura Taylor about why they are taking on the challenge:

Tell us about who you are and what your role is here at the hospice

I’m Laura Taylor and I have worked at the Hospice for over 15 years doing a variation of different roles, however my latest role has been practicing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Hospice Community Services which I absolutely love.

What is your favourite part about working at the hospice?

I love to work with people, we all love to make a difference. The Hospice is a really lovely and happy place where sad things happen. I make it my mission to make each and everyone’s experience of the Hospice a happy and memorable one. Doing my absolute best for all service users and allowing each patient to feel well supported, dignified and at peace which is a satisfying feeling to know I have helped make a difference to their story.

What is your walking team called and how did you get together?

Our Walking Group is called ‘The Community Queens! The Hospice is so important to all of us as not only do we work for the Hospice, we have all been affected by having lost a family member or friend under the care of the Hospice requiring specialist palliative care and so by doing this walk in memory of our loved ones and for all the patients we have had the pleasure to work with it allows us to do something in their memory.

What made you decide to fundraise for the hospice at our Bluebell Walk?

The Hospice Community Services has a superb team and not only do we all love working together, we also like to socialise with each other. We saw this as the perfect opportunity to do something fun together, something meaningful and also doing our best to raise money and support the Hospice at the same time.
