Last year saw a huge rise in the number of people making or updating their Will, due in no small part to the coronavirus pandemic. However, three in five UK adults have still not written a Will*. Making a Will is the only way to be certain that your wishes will be met after you die, ensuring that your estate, whether money, property, possessions or investments, will be passed on to the people and causes you care about.
During the month of October, solicitors across our local area are pledging their time for free, offering a set number of appointments to people who want to write or update their Wills. In return, we ask that you make a suggested donation to the Hospice, which provides a considerable saving on the usual professional fees.
All the solicitors mentioned below are operating in a COVID-secure way, with the majority offering telephone and online appointments, as well as traditional face to face appointments. Please check the information below and book your appointment directly with your chosen solicitor, quoting ‘Heart of Kent Hospice Make a Will month’.

Whilst there is no obligation as part of this month to leave a gift in your Will to us; your kindness would have a huge impact on the work of the Hospice, enabling us to be able to care and support patients and their loved ones for the next 30 years. New Government allowances on Inheritance Tax could mean that a gift in a Will could not only benefit Heart of Kent Hospice but also families and friends, as the amount of tax on estates can be lowered by charitable giving.

“The whole process really was very straightforward, whilst strangely rewarding at the same time. We are so pleased that we were able to make use of the Hospice’s Make a Will month. We were able to achieve completing a Will, quite a scary prospect, whilst also making a difference and helping a charity very close to our hearts."
