if you are among the 54%* of UK adults who don’t have a Will, it may create extra stress and worry for your loved ones when you die and your wishes may not be met. Making a Will is the best way to ensure your estate, whether money, property, possessions or investments, will go to the people and causes you care about.
Every year, we team up with local solicitors to offer our supporters a limited number of appointments to have their Wills professionally written or updated. Instead of paying the solicitor for their specialist advice, we ask that you make a donation towards our services instead.
In 2019, Argo Legacy and Life, Daniel Francis Solicitors, EMD Law, Gullands, Morlings, SNS Law and Whitehead Monckton all generously pledged their expertise and time for free during Make a Will month.
We are extremely grateful to the solicitors who took part in 2019. During Make a Will month, they helped over seventy-five local people make or update their Wills, resulting in donations of over £9,500 to Heart of Kent Hospice.
From the generosity of donations received through Make a Will month, we are able to continue to care for hundreds of local patients and their families. This is why we ask that if you have to cancel your appointment you give your solicitor lots of notice, so Heart of Kent Hospice doesn’t miss out on a potential donation from someone who can attend.
Our next Make a Will month takes place in 2020 and further details will be announced towards the end of 2019.
In the meantime, whether you are a solicitor keen to donate your time or a supporter needing a new Will, you can register your interest by contacting Claire Ashby, Supporter Care Manager on email firstname.lastname@example.org Also, please feel free to visit our FAQs for more information about how Make a Will month works.
